Five ugliness. Bridges

The "TOP 5" of the ugliest buildings in the city.

5 .- The Building "The Previsora."

la previsora

Of the ugly, this is the tallest building "complimented." Unlike many ugly buildings in the city, "La Previsora" has a "good distance" ie, the distance is not what is wrong. It does not kill, nor love, but it happens. By far, it happens.

The disappointment comes when the distance is shortened. The building ever wanted to boast of being the tallest tower in South American South Pacific (which was never true), does not have decent access to a tower of its size. This project should have had a triple-height atrium such as access and porch. It seems that, once again, appeared on the scene our character guaiac to launch on the plane the poisonous idea that "unbuilt area is wasted area." The present building of the Ministry of the Coast, the former parent of Banco del Progreso, has some ugliness at its main entrance, but despite being a much smaller building that "Previsora" has a triple height at entry level. It would be interesting to see something so in this era bank tower.

Apart from the overwhelming entrance and porch, we can add that it is too monolithic in form. No play, no grace in their design, as the tower ascends to the highest point constructed Guayaquil.

Hopefully the next project that aspires to be the tallest building in the city to propose a more agile, bold and pure, new future for the highest point of the city is not only remarkable for high, but above all, however well designed and elegant.

4 .- The Mall "San Marino".

San Marino

THE "FRANKENSTEIN" shopping centers. Just as legendary Swiss scientist created the horrible creature, taking parts from different bodies, the front of this mall is the product of disproportionate fusion of different architectural elements Guayaquil culture considered "indigenous." My congratulations and envy the inhabitants of the capital city, who knew how to avoid that transformed time the "Quicentro"-the older brother of "San Marino" - in a circus tent, made of concrete.

The sad thing is that "inside" space "San Marino" is very nice. And when you realize the contrast between inside outside YSU has the same feel of going out with someone trying to look good, and that the recharge well, but fails to hide his natural charm. One

anyway, you go to "San Marino", but after eating or shopping there, it is inevitable that the user's mind come auqella song "VIVA LAS VEGAS!".

3 .- The Hotel Sol de Oriente. "

eye scandal. I pity the residents of the building. At the same time, I suggest a regular psychiatric review, because living next to a building so loud you can bring dire consequences for the mind and soul. It is a living historical document. Thanks to him, we know all types of glass available in 1983.

Believe me I try to look for something positive, but we just do not.

No way!

2 .- The Building "FORUM."

forum

If in the sixties, the building "Huancavilca" surplus improved in the area of \u200b\u200bCentennial Park, the "Forum" was responsible for sinking the goodwill of that sector to underground levels.

This building is worthy to be studied in depth by students of architecture today, with the intention not to repeat in future atrocities like this. Originally intended for office use, poor infrastructure (elevators damaged, poor drinking water supply, public spaces dark and narrow) were responsible for clearing the site for the emergence of ephemeral seedy nightclubs, and improvised suites, in areas assigned to lawyers, economists and accountants.

The building "Forum" has two local records to his credit:

1 .- It is the building that has more often been published, not "PLOT", but in the section "Red Chronicle" the newspaper "Extra."

2 .- Due to its adaptation to use, offices suites, the "Forum" has earned the title "The biggest Conventillo Guayaquil."

Another interesting fact of the "Forum" are the present occupants. Apparently, who see a certain fascination in that hoary pile of concrete are members of the gay community Guayaquil, especially the economically disadvantaged. Besides them, the building remains occupied by one or two distinguished lawyer of our city.

1 .- The MAG Building

MAG

Other "Fankestein" of concrete. Niemeyer porches, combined with a circular tower and a conical roof, as a Chinese hat. On this ugliness perennial, and have written on previous occasions, especially after they finished him off with a cup of "Nescafé" on its top. Aimed at the complete abandonment, but is occupied by 18% of its capacity, no elevators, few lights, no water and the glass facade breaking one at a time.

Today, this building is expected to give a future much more dignified, like a planned demolition by explosives, such as "Las Vegas". It is not for anything else.
